Searching the database

There are various methods for searching:
• Chose an initial letter for the Family Name.
• Enter a family name for a 'Soundex' search.
• Enter a Given Name and a Family Name, with wildcards if necessary.

After that make your selection from the choices brought up before clicking to drill down through all the available names. Watch out when you get to the list of names and ages because I'm sorry to say that "10 days" will come further down the list than "9 yrs" ! Eventually the result will be the details of the residence and all the other residents at that census entry.

Remember to try out the "?" in the initial selection because this is all the family names which were not clear to me. They may have been meaningless to me but you may spot one which is obvious to you.

Sounds complicated but, believe me, it is as easy as you could want.
